About the event

Fall is near, and so is the ideal season for planting trees! Come learn about how to identify which tree species is ideal for your conditions. We'll cover various Oklahoma native and proven tree species, how to assess your location and choose an appropriate species, and tips for long-term success of your trees. The class is taught by guest instructor Chris Martin, Supervisor of Vegetation Management at OG&E. Class is pay by donation of any amount and helps us continue our free and low-cost community programming.

About the Speaker:

Chris serves as the Supervisor of Vegetation Management at OG&E. Previously, he was the Urban Forester at Oklahoma State University for seven years. His responsibilities included maintaining the trees on campus and collaborating with the grounds team on landscape care and planning. Building on that experience, Chris landed his current role as Supervisor of Vegetation Management at OG&E. This position combines two things Chris is passionate about - community outreach and education. He has been an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist since 2015 and a board member of the Oklahoma Community Forestry Council for the past eight years. He graduated with a B.S. in Horticulture and a Master of Plant Protection and Pest Management (MPPPM) from the University of Georgia.
